Drew Harding has been building handmade violins and guitars since 2009. As a woodworker and player, Drew has an multifaceted appreciation for stringed instruments and understands both their function as tools and their beauty as finely crafted wooden objects. Drew makes mostly violins and guitars, but also has experience working with and building violas and cellos.
Drew has been making large pieces of wood into smaller pieces of wood for much of his life. He built his first guitar at the Vermont Instruments School of Lutherie introductory guitar building course, where he learned the basic lutherie skills needed to continue the pursuit of making fine string instruments. In 2010, Drew attended the Violin Repair program at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, Minnesota. He then studied for 3 years at the Chicago School of Violin Making in Skokie, IL before joining the repair shop at Seman Violins in 2014. Drew is a member of the Violin Society of America and the Guild of American Luthiers.
